Working as a UK Porn Performer Abroad: What You Need to Know

You’ve done a few shoots in the UK. Maybe more than a few. And now you’re wondering what it would be like to work abroad. It’s a natural progression and one that more UK performers are making every year. But working in adult film overseas isn’t quite the same as doing it at home, and there are some things you really should sort out before you book that flight.
Why UK Performers Are Looking Abroad
The UK adult film scene is solid but it’s not massive. There are only so many producers and studios operating domestically, which means the pool of available work has a ceiling. Europe opens that right up. Suddenly you’ve got access to productions in Barcelona, Berlin, Prague and beyond.
There’s also the money. Some European markets pay better than the UK for certain types of content. And if you’re building a portfolio or trying to grow a personal brand, having international credits helps. Producers notice when you’ve worked across different markets.
The Post-Brexit Situation
Let’s address this directly because it’s the question everyone asks. Yes, Brexit changed things. No, it didn’t make working in Europe impossible. UK citizens can still visit EU countries for up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa. Since most adult film shoots last between one and five days, this covers the vast majority of working trips.
Where it gets more complicated is if you want to live and work in an EU country long-term. That requires proper work permits and residency applications. But for the typical performer doing a few international shoots per year, the 90-day rule works fine.
You will need a valid passport though. Seems obvious but you’d be surprised how many people let theirs expire.
What to Sort Before You Go
Health screening is non-negotiable. European productions generally require STI test results from within the last 14 days, sometimes less. Get tested at home before you travel and bring the documentation with you. Some studios will want to see specific panel results so check with your agency or the production company in advance.
Travel insurance is worth getting. Standard holiday insurance won’t cover you for work-related travel, so look into policies designed for freelancers or self-employed workers. It costs very little and gives you peace of mind.
On the financial side, make sure you understand how you’re being paid. Some European companies pay in euros via bank transfer. Others use payment platforms. Agree all of this before you travel. Our ethical production policy requires all payment terms to be agreed in writing before any shoot takes place.
Working With a UK Agency Abroad
This is where having proper representation really pays off. Going freelance in a foreign market where you don’t speak the language and don’t know the producers is risky. Things can go wrong and when they do, you want someone in your corner who understands the business.
At Climaxx Media we’ve built relationships with production companies across five European countries. We vet every production before recommending it, negotiate rates on your behalf, and make sure everything meets our ethical standards. If something doesn’t feel right during a shoot, you’ve got a UK-based team you can call.
We currently have active bookings in Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and the Netherlands.
Is It Worth It?
Short answer – yes, for most performers it absolutely is. You earn more, build a stronger portfolio, meet new people in the industry and get to travel while you’re at it. The adult film world is international by nature and limiting yourself to one country means limiting your career.
